Duckweed gets a bad reputation for spreading but honestly; if you have a tank with extra nutrients or you want natural shade and surface cover for shrimp and fry; it's one of the best plants you can have. Just know going in that it likes to multiply.

Java Moss is one of those things every hobbyist ends up with eventually; and for good reason. Tie it to hardscape; let it carpet; or just leave it floating. Shrimp and fry absolutely love picking through it and it's nearly impossible to get rid of once it's happy.

Delicate and feathery in the best way. Water Fern adds a really fine texture to hardscape that contrasts nicely with broader-leaved plants. Easy going and adaptable to most tank conditions.

Those little round leaves are just charming. Hydrocotyle works great as a midground accent plant or you can let it spread across the surface for a more natural, layered look. Pretty flexible grower once it settles in.

If you have a planted tank with a dirt or sand substrate; you need these. MTS burrow constantly, aerating your substrate and preventing the kind of gas pockets that can wipe out a tank. They do their best work at night and you'll barely notice them.

Hear me out before you scroll past. Bladder Snails get a bad reputation but they're genuinely one of the best cleanup crews you can have in a tank. They break down waste, leftover food, and decaying plant matter; keeping things balanced without you having to do much at all.

These little guys are bright, bold, and pretty hard to kill. Orange Neos are a fantastic choice whether you're just getting into shrimp or adding a pop of color to an established planted tank. They do great in a wide range of water parameters and look amazing against green plants.
